Physiotherapy, or physical therapy, is a defined by the chartered society of physiotherapy as a health care profession that “helps to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability”. The aim of physiotherapy is to facilitate recovery through development, restoration and maintenance of movement and physical function of people affected by injury and illness. This is related to the treatment of the musculoskeletal system. This includes joints, bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Physiotherapy intervention can be implemented for fractures, soft tissue strains and sprains and joint replacements to name a few.

This is the treatment of all sports related injuries and prevention of further injuries. Physiotherapy intervention includes treatment of muscle strains and sport specific rehabilitation, strength, and conditioning.
